From 1890 to 1914, prior to the mainstream appeal of cinema and radio the printed word, mainly in magazines, was the foremost mass entertainment.

AM Burrage quickly became a master of the market publishing his stories regularly across a number of publications. A model, especially a transparent one, of the human body or of any of its parts.

In this compilation -

01 - Frightening Phantoms - A Short Story Volume

02 - Dream Woman by Wilkie Collins

03 - Phantom by Arnold Bennett

04 - The Apparition of Mrs Veal by Daniel Defoe

05 - Mr Testator's Visitation by Charles Dickens

06 - The Phantom Rickshaw by Rudyard Kipling

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1194/4786/products/9781787808881_Frightening_Phantoms_-_A_Short_Story_Volume.jpg?v=1594080739
animal-terror-a-short-story-volume-volume-1-audiobook
Animal Terror - A Short Story Volume - Volume 1 (Audiobook)

Read by Richard Mitchley, Ghizela Rowe & Patrick Barlow (Unabridged: 2hrs 1min)

Featuring stories by Saki, Bram Stoker, H.P. But loss can, after mourning, give the opportunity to reappraise the lost and how we can each move forward. In the literary world an accessible balance can be given.

In this compilation -

1 - Short Stories About Death, Dying and Loss - An Introduction

2 - The Dead by James Joyce

3 - The Lagoon by Joseph Conrad

4 - The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe

5 - Living or Dead by Rabrindinath Tagore

6 - Misery by Anton Chekhov

7 - On the Gull's Road by Willa Cather

8 - The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield

9 - The District Doctor by Ivan Turgenev

10 - The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe

11 - Odour of Chrysanthemums by D H Lawrence

12 - Laura by Saki

13 - Silence by Leonid Nikolaevich Andreyev

14 - The Law of Life by Jack London

15 - The Facts in the Case of Monsieur Valdemar by Edgar Allan Poe

16 - The Siege of Berlin by Alphonse Daudet

17 - The Fly by Katherine Mansfield

18 - The Boarded Window by Ambrose Bierce

19 - What the Moon Brings by H P Lovecraft

20 - The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin

21 - Eveline by James Joyce

22 - The Life of Ma Parker by Katherine Mansfield

23 - In No Strange Land by Katharine Butler

24 - The Luck of Roaring Camp by Bret Harte

25 - The Victory by Rabindranath Tagore

26 - The Matador of Five Towns by Arnold Bennett

27 - Roger Malvin's Burial by Nathaniel Hawthorne

Great American Short Stories From A Golden Age Of Literature.

Read by Christopher Ragland, Laurel Lefkow & Liza Ross (Unabridged: 5hrs 56mins)

Featuring stories by O Henry, Kate Chopin, Jack London, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Bret Harte, Ambrose Bierce, Stephen Crane, Sarah Orne Jewett & more.

Art and life. A case of ‘you’re not trying hard enough’, ‘or knuckling down and getting on with it’. But in more recent decades mental issues have come to be recognised as an illness, a disease rather than an affliction. We all remember horror stories of lobotomy’s and electric shock being used to ‘cure’ what society viewed as anti-social behaviour but illness, mental or physical is very real. Depression, schizophrenia, breakdown, psychosis, are alarming events to have or to witness.

In this compilation -

1 - Short Stories About Mental Illness - An Introduction

2 - Diary of a Madman by Nikolai Gogol

3 - The Yellow Wall Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

4 - Sokratics in the Strand by Amy Levy

5 - A Complete Recovery by Barry Pain

6 - Diary of a Lunatic by Leo Tolstoy

7 - Adventure by Sherwood Anderson

8 - Miss Ogilivy Finds Herself by Radclyffe Hall

9 - Hide And Seek or Pliatki by Fyodor Sologub

10 - Brothers by Sherwood Anderson

11 - Fear by Catherine Wells

12 - The Diary of a God by Barry Pain

13 - Shut Out by F Anstey

14 - The Miracle by John Davys Beresford

15 - The Lie by Leonid Andreyev

16 - The Fall of the House of Usher - Part 1 by Edgar Allan Poe

17 - The Fall of the House of Usher - Part 2 by Edgar Allan Poe

18 - The Last of Squire Ennismore by Charlotte Riddell

19 - Cohen of Trinity by Amy Levy

20 - The City by Leonid Andreyev

21 - In the Séance Room by Lettice Galbraith

22 - A Red Flower by Vsevolod Garshin

23 - Hands by Sherwood Anderson

24 - Silence by Leonid Nikolaevich Andreyev

25 - Paul's Case by Willa Cather

Historical military fiction spanning the American Civil War, World War One, Russian Revolution and more.

Read by Richard Mitchley, Eric Meyers &
