Read by Ghizela Rowe (Abridged: 12mins)
A WINTER’S TALE is set in Sicilia where the King, Leontes, is enjoying a visit by his friend the King of Bohemia. When he wants to leave, he tries to persuade him unsuccessfully to stay. Leontes then decides to ask his wife to try and get him to stay longer which she does. He is then consumed by jealousy imaging that the reason she persuaded him so easily was because they were having an affair. Inevitably no good comes from his irrational jealousy in Shakespeare’s tale.
This narrative version was written by Mary & Charles Lamb.
